Hosea (Come Back to Me)

LYRICS TO THE SONG HOSEA:
Come back to me with all your heart
Don’t let fear keep us apart
Trees do bend though straight and tall
So must we to others call

Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me
And living deeply our new life

The wilderness will lead you
To the place where I will speak
Integrity and justice
With tenderness
You shall know.

RADIANT LOVE
....
I painted this heart in NYC
after reading her poetry....

I Love You More Than All the Windows in New York City

The day turned into the city
and the city turned into the mind
and the moving trucks trumbled along
like loud worries speaking over
the bicycle’s idea
which wove between
the more armored vehicles of expression
and over planks left by the construction workers
on a holiday morning when no work was being done
because no matter the day, we tend towards
remaking parts of it—what we said
or did, or how we looked—
and the buildings were like faces
lining the banks of a parade
obstructing and highlighting each other
defining height and width for each other
offsetting grace and function
like Audrey Hepburn from
Jesse Owens, and the hearty pigeons collaborate
with wrought iron fences
and become recurring choruses of memory
reassembling around benches
we sat in once, while seagulls wheel
like immigrating thoughts, and never-leaving
chickadees hop bared hedges and low trees
like commas and semicolons, landing
where needed, separating
subjects from adjectives, stringing along
the long ideas, showing how the cage
has no door, and the lights changed
so the tide of sound ebbed and returned
like our own breath
and when I knew everything
was going to look the same as the mind
I stopped at a lively corner
where the signs themselves were like
perpendicular dialects in conversation and
I put both my feet on the ground
took the bag from the basket
so pleased it had not been crushed
by the mightiness of all else
that goes on and gave you the sentence inside.

"HER ASPEN TRAIL" 2014
Commission painting in progress!

The trees in my new painting represent two sisters and their love for the Rocky Mountains
and each other.  I am painting around the clock in my Southampton studio.
The best part about this painting is that it is a surprise birthday gift!

Each commission piece is so personal. I find that not only do I get blessed with new work, but also many of my collectors become life-long friends.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND THANK YOU FOR ALL
THE LOVE & SUPPORT!!!!

"Within Her Reach" 2013
8 x 24
mixed media on canvas

One night before falling asleep in our Brooklyn apartment, Leo and I looked out our window to see a A 35-mile rainbow that lit up the cloudy night skies all the way from Manhattan
to the hurricane Sandy ravaged Brooklyn.
The spectacular spectrum of color was created by German artist Yvette Mattern.
I knew one day I would paint it… last night and early into this morning I finished.
Leo just said I ended the year 2013 with my best piece.

We are forever grateful for that view… and know in our hearts that the good in NYC is within reach.

"Ocean of Man's Heart" 2013
10 x 10
mixed media on canvas

Last month I moved my studio from New York City to the Hamptons.
I am inspired by the ocean and light that surrounds me.
I like living on Long Island  "Off Season" most of all!

My mixed media work expresses light and love.
I apply seashells, sand, glass and marbles sealed in envirotex resin.
When the suns rays touch my art, my work illuminates.
The light of God and all positive energy is expressed.
My painting above titled "Ocean of Man's Heart"2013
represents a complex heart, like the weathered ocean with the
light of hope surrounding it.

The villages of East Hampton, Southampton, Sag Harbor etc..
have a reputation as an artist colony.
Jackson Pollock lived here in
the 1940's and 1950's with Lee Krasner.
The Pollock-Krasner House and Studio is nostalgic!
I dream of owning a farmhouse one day like this,
with a barn in the backyard that I will turn into my studio. (smiling)

This past month I was commissioned to paint a tree for a new collector.
Before I shipped the painting out West, I photographed "Seven in Seattle" on Coopers Beach in Southampton. There are seven hearts in the tree representing each member in their family. The symbol of the heart is my trademark and surfaces in most of my painting as well as my suspended paintbrush.
